Two thermometers

Your ducts run through a 140°F attic

In this climate, the ducts are often the weak point. Cold air leaves the unit at one temperature and arrives at the far bedroom several degrees warmer — that difference is measurable, and you can take it yourself with a cheap thermometer.

Under 3°F between registersUsually fine. More than that points at the ducts, not the equipment.

Questions

Asked in the Valley

Is Golden Oak a surfacing or flooring company?

No. Surface Group is part of our name. We work only on heating, ventilation and air conditioning.

One room is always warmer than the rest. Why?

Usually the duct run to that room, or a return that cannot pull air out with the door closed. Our duct check page shows how to measure it.

How often should a system be serviced here?

More often than the calendar on the box suggests. Valley equipment runs most of the year, so we plan a visit before the season and one in the middle of it.

Do you seal and insulate ducts?

Yes. Mastic at the joints and boots, proper insulation, and re-running flex that sags or kinks.

Do you work on businesses?

Yes. Rooftop units, kitchens, clinics, controls and planned maintenance with a record per unit.

Will I get a price before work starts?

Yes. Repairs are priced in writing after diagnosis, and replacements are proposed in writing.
